what is a VEGAN? A vegan (pronounced VEE-gun) is someone who, for various reasons, chooses to avoid using or consuming animal products. While vegetarians choose not to use flesh foods, vegans also avoid dairy and eggs, as well as fur, leather, wool, down, and cosmetics or chemical products tested on animals.

many people come into Breadsmith and ask what products of ours are vegan.  Even though our philosophy - mission is to make baked goods from natural sources - unprocessed - NO preservatives - NO trans-fats - and whenever possible, organic and organically produced ingredients, the question of which of our products are vegan is valid.

He that prefers the beautiful to the useful in life will, undoubtedly, like children who prefer sweetmeats to bread, destroy his digestion and acquire a very fretful outlook on the world.”
